Grace Valley Fire Relief Efforts

Grace Valley Christian Academy is deeply moved by the outpouring of donations received last week to support those in dire need due to the recent North Bay fires. It was a great privilege to collect and deliver your donations.

The money collected at Davis Neighbors’ Night Out events, along with a generous $5,000 contribution from Grace Valley Christian Center, totaled a whopping $15,400! We also filled a 15-foot U-Haul truck with more than $10,000 worth of desperately needed food and other specifically requested supplies.

We are grateful to all individuals in the Davis community who contributed to this effort, as well as Davis OfficeMax and César Chávez Elementary School for donating many items.

For this relief effort, Grace Valley partnered with Redwood Empire Food Bank, which is Sonoma County’s largest hunger-relief organization. We also worked with Crossing the Jordan, an organization distributing supplies to fire evacuees and others in need in the Sonoma County area. All donations were meticulously sorted and organized by students and staff at Grace Valley Christian Academy prior to delivery.

The items you donated went to reputable organizations and are already being distributed to those in need. The $15,400 donation to Redwood Empire Food Bank will provide 31,000 meals for those facing hunger in this challenging time (many of whom we saw lined up at the food bank), not to mention the countless others who will benefit from your generosity. Though this initial relief effort is completed, there is more work to be done. To further support disaster victims, Grace Valley is partnering with Change of Pace and the Davis Turkey Trot. The Turkey Trot is a fun family event for runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, and 20 percent of registration fees made under “Grace Valley Christian Academy” will go to help those in need due to the recent fires and hurricanes.
