Fifth grade research reports and posters are finished! There were many interesting topics this year such as Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Masters and the Northern Lights. For the past four months students have worked hard to find quality sources, organize their ideas and craft informative essays which they finished off in hand-written cursive. Wow!​

Did you know that the metric system originated during the French Revolution in 1795, when the French Academy of Sciences replaced mismatched units of measurement with a standardized system based on multiples of ten?

Sixth graders learned about the French Revolution in history, and the metric system in math and science. To cap off their Metric Day celebration, a confluence of all their subjects, students dressed as characters from The Scarlet Pimpernel (their literature study in English), while measuring the mass of Napoleon pastries in grams
and competing in various games of measurement. ​
