Messages from the School Board

From Associate Pastor Gerrit Buddingh'

As the world around us becomes increasingly secular and even hostile to our Christian world view, it became clear that we could no longer simply turn our young children over to the public schools or their education. In light of this fact, Pastor Mathew challenged us to start a Christian school. Our church community responded in a community fashion. The result is a cooperative school that daily calls every church family to live a life worthy of the calling we have received.

To know Christ and make Him known to our children is the goal of every Christian parent. This is a daunting challenge. Grace Valley Christian Academy does not supplant parental involvement, but uniquely enhances it in that parents are the faculty and staff. The students, at every moment of the school day, see parents sacrificially living out their faith and commitment to Jesus' lordship.

Truly, this is God's gracious work in our midst. May God enable us to sustain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace that we now enjoy. For to Him be all the praise and glory.

"'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)

I think we were all excited about the idea of Grace Valley Christian Academy, and thought it would be of great benefit to our children. As it turns out, however, the school is benefiting the whole church. GVCA has been instrumental in promoting the unity of the Holy Spirit as we all labor together for a common goal. To God be the glory.

Having said that, we thank Pastor and Gladys, for without them the school could not have existed. It has been their vision and effort that has accomplished the Lord's work in our lives, our church and our school. They have been tireless in ministry, faithful in tending the "flock", dedicated to promoting excellence, and uncompromising in the declaration of God's truth.

May the Lord continue to bless our church and school and may we remain united in Christ, faithful to the end and found rejoicing at His appearing.
