Spanish

Elementary Spanish

Students in Spanish class.

Spanish is taught beginning in Kindergarten at Grace Valley Christian Academy. Early exposure to the language helps "tune" the students' ear to the language, while building an extensive vocabulary for use in Junior High Spanish. Familiar songs and stories, hands-on activities and projects, along with repetition provide the building blocks necessary for the students to speak and write simple sentences, thus preparing them to succeed in Junior High Spanish.

Junior High Spanish

The Spanish program uses a high school textbook, Paso A Paso 1, 2, 3, beginning in the 7th grade. The students fulfill all high school foreign language graduation requirements by the end of the 9th grade.

Junior High Spanish builds upon the foundation laid in elementary Spanish. The goal each year is to increase communicative competence and grammatical knowledge providing the students the ability to communicate in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. This will be accomplished by oral and written classroom drills, individual and group activities, projects and regular homework assignments.
