What others say. . . .

I am delighted to be able to strongly recommend Pastor Mathew's recent book.  I have been blessed for several years to be able to listen to Pastor Mathews' sermons on tape.  The printed word nicely captures the clarity, wisdom, and power of the actual sermons.

Coherence?"

Few things will bless you more than a careful reading of the First Epistle of John. This masterful exposition of that epistle by the Reverend P. G. Mathew will make that blessing palpable.

M.Div., and author of The Design Revolution

In The Normal Christian Life, Pastor Mathew carefully examines the first epistle of the apostle John in order to direct “Christians away from the sands of subjectivity and onto the solid ground of objective truth, the Holy Scriptures.” While this is certainly the normal Christian life in that it is following the norm, or pattern, set down for us by Jesus Christ and the apostles, it is certainly not a common life in the modern “Christian” world. Pastor Mathew’s excellent exposition of John challenges us to examine our lives, come to true saving faith, and walk in the obedience that pleases our Lord.

— Professor Richard Spencer, IEEE Fellow,

Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering)

I have scrutinized The Normal Church Life carefully from several points of view and I conclude that it is one of the best written books I have had the privilege and joy of reading. It is like reading the Bible itself.  My first sense . . . was just how wonderfully Pastor Mathew's words were being attended by the Holy Spirit.  I can feel his love for and knowledge of God’s word in every sentence.  Pastor Mathew is not simply a hearer of the Word; he is also a doer of the Word, and a living example of what he preached in chapter 27,  “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?”

 — Dr.  Joseph C. Hicks

The church of our Lord Jesus Christ is not merely a social institution.  Rather, it is an entirely divine institution . . . one in which love rules all thoughts and actions. But each Christian loves his brother or sister in Christ only because of his faith - his relationship with the Christ of Scripture.  Such faith produces new life, new love, and new obedience. This love is “The Normal Church Life.” Oh how we need more of that normalcy in the church of our day! May God therefore bless this volume to that end.

            — Rev. Alan R. Moak

I believe there are few preachers today who can match either the clarity of Pastor Mathew’s analysis or the force of his response as he surveys the present-day battlefield of so-called Christian ideas. In stark contrast to the thousands of ministers who would simply retreat from the fight or, worse yet, join the enemy and pervert the gospel themselves . . . Pastor Mathew draws a line in the sand and declares his willingness to defend the true gospel no matter what the cost.

— Lt. Col. Anthony S. Robbins (USAF), M.D., Ph.D. (Epidemiology)
